Creative Pathways
Therapy & Workshops to help you find your way

Anxiety. Worry. Depression. Mood swings. Dealing with trauma. Feeling unstable and unhappy in your life. If you suffer from any of these issues you are not alone. Many suffer for years in solitude because help can be difficult to ask for, too expensive to afford, or there isn’t enough time to take care of your primary responsibilities and yourself too.

I may be able to help. I am a licensed psychotherapist and creative arts therapist in Brooklyn NY who uses talk therapy as well as creative arts therapies and EMDR to help individuals navigate their lives to find meaning and joy amidst the instability of life.

Services offered:

Individual psychotherapy (adults 17+)

  • Strength-based, meaning we find your already existing strengths that everyone has access to and build on it with a personalized plan of practice that can allow for a stronger sense of self to emerge to help you deal with life’s stressors.

  • 45-minute, once a week psychotherapy sessions, which can be combined with 90-minute EMDR intensives once+ monthly, can help produce profound change. My approach is to combine EMDR with drama therapy theories such as Role Method and other parts-oriented approaches, such as IFS, Internal Family Systems, to help clients discover and navigate the many parts of themselves. Come to terms with and in many cases, grieve the past. You can’t change the past, no one can. But you can come to a different and more compassionate understanding of what happened.

    • EMDR

      • Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing- emdria.org. EMDR is a treatment for PTSD and trauma. Despite definitions of trauma, it’s impossible to say how one event will affect a person. EMDR can be helpful with anxiety and depression as well as single incident and complex PTSD.

      • EMDR uses bi-lateral stimulation (left/right tapping) to create dual awareness (one foot in the past/one in the present) to help clients re-process distressing memories and negative beliefs. It’s both a desensitization process and one of memory reconsolidation, meaning what you learned from the event back then isn’t what you believe now. We follow that mis-match. You tell your story, both talk therapy and with art and you witness, along with the therapist, what you went through. The process doesn’t have to contain every detail of the re-telling, it’s more important that you feel it and experience the impact it had on your life.

      • 45 minute once a week sessions ($200 per session/sliding scale slots might be available)

      • 90 minute Intensive EMDR sessions one+ times monthly ($400/session)

      • No insurance accepted, but I do provide a superbill for Out-of-Network coverage. Please check with your insurance company to make sure it’s covered

Who are my clients?

  • Many of the clients that I work with are, as my dad would say, “creative types.” Many have ADHD or other neuro-diversity (as do I) and many identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum (as do I). Most of my clients are searchers and explorers, they have come to me after many other journeys with their mental health. I believe clients are in charge of their own treatment, and I frequently will give options for directions we could go in, allowing you as the client to titrate the experience so you feel as safe as possible.
